Welcome
Hello everyone, this is my webpage. This page is for me, maybe you'll find it useful.[06/19/07]
I haven't updated this site much as I've been playing around with emulators lately. I'm making a page for my writing. Feel free to tell me what you think. All of my pages are listed to the right.
[02/22/07]
I'm making a page just for Ubuntu, so I can make this page more general again.
[02/20/07]
I'm still with Ubuntu. I've upgraded to 6.10. I've been playing with my system trying to get 3d graphics to work better (OpenGL). it's been difficult and a crash course in shell commands. I still recommend the operating system though. It is extremely stable compared to windows and despite a lack of support by hardware manufacturers it recognizes hardware well enough.

Everyone should use Linux. I am using Ubuntu so I recommend it. If you want the latest game, buy an X-Box, if you want a computer install Ubuntu on that PC in your closet. Click here to download the iso file to your desktop. Once downloaded you can open it with your CD burner software to burn a bootable install CD(you may be able to just double click the file once downloaded). Put the CD into your old computer and follow the prompts. I recommend deleting everything (the computer was in the closet remember).

I continue to be impressed by Ubuntu. This machine runs smoothly and I feel never needs rebooting. I have a dozen programs open right now and my computer is smooth and stable. I am editing this page in Nvu at the moment and have 6 other pages open for editing. I have 2 browsers, an FTP client, a text document, GIMP with 3 pics open and a Majong game open. I also have stock ticker and weather icon running. I invite you to look at Ubuntu's website and see what it has to offer. At least try the Live CD.

I'm still using Linux. It's only downfalls are that it doesn't run MS content well. It still has programs capable of reading word and excel fine but Direct X, .WMV, and other MS creations can pose problems. Most have workarounds but are not suitable for the average user. However if using MS creations are the only thing holding you back you should think about what you want out of a computer. I am updating this page now from Linux (Ubuntu 6.06). I believe now that any serious computer user will run Linux.
I first used computers in 1979 at the age of 5. I am disappointed that it took me this long to convert to Linux. Now that I use it, I will never switch back to Windoze. If you want to know what I know about computers, look at what I am typing this from(my computer).
Email me, if you have an old piece of junk you would like to make useful. I don't want to fix your computer, but I do want to show you how to get the most out of it.

Linux is wonderful. I run multiple programs quickly and it feels secure. I hope my enthusiasm lasts. Nvu (what I use to edit this page) seems to run better and USB is working (I can see pics on my camera). I've transferred files between this computer (Ubuntu 6.06) and a Windows XP laptop. I've opened an MS Word document but I still can't print. I'm still working on printing to a Lexmark X2250 shared on the XP machine. I can see it but no luck printing anything legible yet. If you like computers and think what I'm doing is neat, send me an email. I'd be delighted to hear from you.

Got my camera working under Ubuntu. Here's a pic of my computer.

Linux!! I finally installed it. I put together a computer from junk and installed Linux on it. I'm updating this page from that computer and using Ubuntu as my Operating System. No more Windoze.
I'll have pictures of my junky computer as soon as I get my camera working under Ubuntu. It has 896 megabytes of memory (512+256+128). A 1.4 Gigahertz Cpu. An ATI video card of some sort of generic network card.
Here's a screen shot if you want to see a version of Linux. I have a stock ticker running across the top and it does not slow anything down. I'm running 6 desktops and at least as many applications. Firefox(IE), NVU(Front Page), Majong(a game), GIMP (Photoshop), an educational program and OO Writer (Word).
I'm exited, back to playing.
